Train with Shane.

Personal training with Shane Dickey, a Master Fitness Trainer who served 22 years in the U.S. Army, at our Peyton gym in The Shops at Meridian Ranch, a few minutes from Falcon. One-on-one sessions run 60 to 90 minutes. Partner and group training are also available, and personal trainers Jason Derganc and Mindy Timmons coach here too.

Every package includes

Customized program

Written from your assessment and your goals. Shane changes the exercises often enough that your body keeps adapting and each session stays challenging.

InBody testing

Scans on the InBody 570 estimate your muscle, body fat and body water, so each check-in shows what your training is changing.

Nutrition coaching

Help eating for training and recovery, with whole foods first. Most clients who eat a balanced diet don't need supplements.

Alone, in pairs or in a group

Each format starts with an assessment, then a program written for the people in the session. Packages come in several sizes to suit different budgets. Ask Shane for the current options.

One-on-one 60 to 90 min
Your own session with Shane, planned around your goals and your schedule.
Partner 2 people
Train with your spouse, a friend or a coworker. The program covers both of your goals, each of you pays a reduced individual rate, and you keep each other on track between sessions.
Group 3 or more
Shane leads the group through stretches and exercises. It is an affordable way to train with people you know and push each other.

Training programs

Shane writes each program after an assessment, for one person or one team.

Bodybuilding

Training, recovery and nutrition planned together to change your physique and body composition. It builds muscle and burns fat, for men and women of any age.

Weight Loss

Resistance training adds lean muscle, which burns more calories. Intervals improve your aerobic capacity, and nutrition coaching makes sure you eat enough to fuel the work.

Corrective Exercise & Rehab

Works on muscle imbalances left by injury, long hours of sitting or age. Guided exercises restore natural movement, strength, range of motion and flexibility, and can ease everyday aches.

Youth Fitness

Safe, age-appropriate training for a growing body. Shane can build it around what a child enjoys or around a sport they want to play better, with structure that builds healthy habits.

Senior Fitness

Strength, flexibility and range of motion for daily life: walking, taking the stairs, getting up from a chair. The program also lowers the chance of injury.

Sports Preparation

For one athlete, a group or a whole team. Shane sets the performance target, tests where the athlete is now and plans the steps between, based on position, age, training background and the days available to train.

InBody 570 body composition analyzer used for member body composition testing

InBody 570

The InBody 570 is a body composition analyzer. You stand on the footplate and hold the hand grips, and it estimates how much of your weight is muscle, fat and water, for each arm, each leg and your trunk.

Every personal training package includes InBody testing. Repeat scans show whether you are gaining muscle and losing fat, which a bathroom scale can't tell apart.

InBody results are estimates for tracking fitness progress. They are not a medical diagnosis. Read our health and fitness disclaimer.

  • 22 years, U.S. Army
  • ISSA and NASM certified
  • USPA Certified Powerlifting Coach

I've had a passion for fitness and health since I was a young teenager. I know what it is like to feel intimidated, confused and uneducated when it comes to the vast variations and, at times, complicated science of physical fitness, health and nutrition. Earning numerous college degrees and certifications in the fitness, nutrition and health fields, paired with 25-plus years of experience, I've gained vast knowledge in just about every style of exercise. I have personally competed in multiple power lifting and bodybuilding competitions.

I served 22 years in the U.S. Army as a Master Fitness Trainer, helping Soldiers improve their fitness levels and prepare their bodies for the intense physical fitness requirement that combat demands. I have served as a Fitness Manager in numerous commercial gyms, with over 12,000 hours of personal training and group training experience. I hold personal training certifications through ISSA and NASM, and degrees in Exercise Science, Sports Management and Nutrition. I am also a current USPA Certified Powerlifting Coach Practitioner.

My personal training experience includes clients aged 11 to 80, of all body compositions and fitness levels: athletes, professional bodybuilding and power lifting competitors, and people with challenging medical conditions such as arthritis, heart conditions and disabilities. I believe everyone deserves the opportunity to live a healthy and happy life. If you show up and give me your 110%, I'll show you results.

Personal Trainer

  • 8-year U.S. Marine Corps veteran
  • Certified personal trainer since 2004
  • RKC Kettlebell Instructor

I am an 8-year United States Marine Corps veteran and former Force Recon Operator with a deep commitment to helping people succeed through confidence, understanding and individualized support. My background has instilled in me the ability to recognize differences in ability, mindset and limitations, and to make the necessary adjustments so every client has the opportunity to thrive. I believe strongly in the "everyday" client and have made it my mission to be an advocate for those who want to improve their lives through fitness, regardless of starting point. I take pride in my ability to listen, truly understand my clients' needs, and modify programs based on initial limitations. This personal connection is at the core of how I coach.

As a competitive athlete from a young age, fitness has always been a central part of my life. Transitioning that passion into a career after my military service was a natural progression. I earned my first Certified Personal Trainer (CPT) credential through AFAA in 2004 and have since expanded my education through AFAA, ISSA and NASM. Additional certifications include RKC Kettlebell Instructor, NASM MMA Conditioning Specialist, NASM Youth Exercise Specialist, TRX modalities, and a former CrossFit Level 1 certification.

Beyond certifications, my hands-on experience includes six years as a competitive CrossFit athlete, serving as a high school wrestling conditioning coach, and working as a strength and conditioning coach for amateur and professional motocross racers. I have also trained multiple professional athletes during their off-seasons.

Training with me is a journey, not a quick fix. I am firm, disciplined and direct, but I believe training should also be engaging and enjoyable. Helping clients realize that their goals are achievable through proper guidance, consistency and hard work has been my passion for over two decades.

Feel free to reach out for a meet-and-greet, and let's start the journey together. I look forward to showing you the meaning of #SoreTodayStrongTomorrow. Cheers!

Training questions

Shane's answers to the questions he hears most. Still wondering about something? Call 719-799-0780.

01 Why did you decide to become a personal trainer, and what is your philosophy?

I've had a passion for fitness and health since I was a teenager. The science behind how the body works fascinates me: building muscular strength, metabolism and weight management, nutrition, and physical performance. That interest, and wanting to help people become the best version of themselves, led me to get certified as a personal trainer. Besides being a certified Master Fitness Trainer, I hold several specialist certifications and a Master of Science degree. Over the years I have worked with people of many ages, goals and fitness levels, including many with disabilities and health concerns. I feel blessed to work with everyone I meet, and I see it as my responsibility to make trust, satisfaction and personal improvement a priority every time.

02 Why do I need a personal trainer?

Many people assume workouts get easier as the body gets stronger and used to the same exercises each week. An experienced trainer knows how to change the training so your body keeps adapting and moving forward at a reasonable rate. When exercises progress often and consistently, your body never fully settles into the workout, and each session stays as challenging as the one before.

03 Do I need to take dietary supplements?

Most clients don't need dietary supplements unless they have a documented vitamin deficiency or don't eat a balanced diet. Using supplements in place of a sound diet can leave you short of other nutrients. Your body absorbs and uses vitamins and minerals more easily from whole foods than from a pill, and it's healthier.

04 What is the best way to lose fat?

Weight-bearing exercises that work several major muscle groups burn more calories per minute, so they suit fat loss better. How much fat you burn after a workout depends partly on how hard you worked during it. Strength training and endurance exercise both lower body fat percentage, but combining the two, along with proper nutrition, burns more fat than either one alone.

05 How are training packages and programs designed?

I offer a range of packages: one-on-one personal training sessions of 60 to 90 minutes, partner training sessions and group training sessions. Each program is built around your fitness level, your fitness assessments and your personal goals. There are several package options, so you can get the best results at a price that fits your budget.

06 How many days per week do I need to work out?

Depending on your health and fitness goals, plan on at least 3 days of exercise a week to see results. With fewer, every workout feels like starting over. The general guideline for healthy adults is at least 150 minutes of moderate exercise, 75 minutes of vigorous exercise, or a mix of the two each week, plus resistance and flexibility training at least twice a week. You can split those minutes into shorter sessions, so a busy schedule doesn't have to stop you.

07 What are the best exercises for getting rid of fat in specific areas?

Extra fat on the belly, upper arms or inner thighs rarely shows up in just one place. If it's there, it's usually everywhere. You can't spot reduce: no exercise burns fat in only one part of the body, so you work on all of it through exercise and proper nutrition. If you want visible muscle definition, we first reduce the fat that covers the muscle, then follow a strength program built for muscle growth. A personal trainer helps with both steps.

08 How often should I see a trainer?

It varies from person to person. If you're just getting started with exercise and healthy eating, need regular motivation to get to the gym, or are working through an injury, you'll probably want to see a trainer once or twice a week. Many of my clients cut back to once a week or every other week once they show they can get to the gym consistently and progress through their exercises as planned. They can still contact me any day with questions or concerns, or to book a session.
